Peppol is a system that allows for the automatic exchange of invoices between businesses and government accounting systems. It was established in 2008 as a pilot project of the European Commission under the name “Pan-European Public Procurement OnLine” (Peppol).
The goal of Peppol was to enable companies to securely send electronic invoices to all their customers. To achieve this, Peppol provides an international network that includes features like an appointment calendar, a standard invoice format, and applications for e-procurement and e-invoicing.
Organizations use Peppol to securely exchange electronic documents, particularly UBL invoices (UBL2.1). UBL stands for Universal Business Language and is the standard format for electronic invoicing.

How can I connect to the Peppol network?
To connect to the Peppol network, you need to establish a connection with a Peppol Access Point. You can find a list of certified access points on the Peppol website (link: https://peppol.eu/who-is-who/peppol-certified-aps/). Once connected, you will be assigned a Peppol ID, which enables you to electronically invoice any other organization connected to the European Peppol network.
